New Delhi: After writing a letter to the bosses in New Zealand
asking them to grant the employees a day off to watch their World Cup semifinal
match against South Africa, the Black Caps captain Brendon McCullum has now
written to the Indian fans asking them to support his team in Sunday’s final.

After winning all their matches at home, New Zealand will now take on
Australia at the Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG), and captain McCullum is
hopeful that Indian cricket fans will cheer for his boys on Sunday.
With all the tickets sold out, a large number of Indian fans are
expected to visit the ground and the Black Caps captain wants them to support
his team and not the Aussies. Hoping that India would make final, many Indian
fans had bought their tickets, but now equations have changed after India’s
defeat to Australia in the semifinal.
In the press conference on Saturday, the Kiwi
captain even admitted that. “I reckon we might have the home crowd tomorrow. I
think it’s probably no secret that most teams around the world would prefer New
Zealand to win than Australia, so hopefully we get a good smattering of support
tomorrow and hopefully the Indian guys will be rooting for us.”
